Letter from Alfred C. Weeks to John Moore, September 10, 1863
Writing from Parish St. Mary, he has apparently seen Mary Weeks at the home plantation, and reports that “this country is again virgually abandoned by our troops.” He does “not know when I shall return to Texas. Say in about 3 weeks. Mean time one of us will be here all the time.” Charles C. Weeks is expected soon. On a final page dated September 13 he reports that he has gone to New Iberia and seen C. C. Weeks, who arrived the day before. He reports on molasses and sugar cultivation on the plantations and attempts to sell molasses.\
