Maggie Weeks to John C. Moore, January 25, 1864
Weeks writes to console Moore on the death of his wife, and also to inform him that Charlie is still in Texas waiting to haul government stores to Shreveport. Before Mary Weeks Moore’s death, she writes, “her servants left her, & gave her much trouble. Hailey, Isabella, Fanny, and one or two others went with the Yankees,” who had once more withdrawn from the country.
