Letter from William F. Weeks, January 10, 1864
In this letter, possibly addressed to his wife, Weeks writes from Gentry on the movements of family members and Charles C. Weeks’s contract for hauling for the government. The latter has “hired his negroes to Skaggs & will employ his team hauling for the Govt.” Maggie Weeks was still near Mansfield, where she had rented a house that had burned down only a few days after moving in.
