Hon John Moore
[John?] has just returned from Shreveport without the boys. Your boy George is dead, and the other one very sick. The boy belonging to the estate some what better. They are not allowed to go home without they are replaced by others. I send you the note from the Genl Supt. I am requested to send Jack Jones back, else they will send for him. I think of going up to Shreveport Monday to take him back to save us trouble. Hadn’t you better go & try your influence to get the sick boys out. [Elnon?] reports they are suffering much sickness, bury two or three every day. Also says our boys have had their clothes stolen.
Respectfully yours,
Wm. Lourd
