William F. Weeks to John C. Moore, November 18, 1863
Weeks writes from Houston about a recent meeting with Mrs. Leigh, Moore’s daughter, and his impressions of the Brazos country, which “far excels any part of Texas I have seen.” He intends to return home soon, believing “our country free of Yankees.” Plus, business in Houston has been brought to a standstill by the federal occupation of Brownsville.
